Minden Township History

In May of 2002, Minden Township and the City of Sauk Rapids entered into an Orderly Annexation Agreement.  The City and the Township understood that growth was coming to the area and it would be better for both the City and the Township for that growth to happen in a well planned and managed way.  This does not mean that everyone within the Orderly Annexation Area instantly became annexed into the City of Sauk Rapids, but instead layed a groundwork for how property could be annexed into the City.  The City and the Township desire to provide for the orderly development and extension of services to the areas of the town that or or are about to become urban or suburban in character.  The affected area is not all of Minden Township, but rather a portion north of Highway 23.
