8 year old Sophina Lindquist is presented the Extra Mile Award from Mayor Kurt Hunstiger.

On May 8, 2017,  Mayor Hunstiger presented the City's Extra Mile Award to its youngest recipient, Sophina Lindquist. At the age of 8, Sophina Lindquist is making a difference in the lives of the Sauk Rapids Fire Fighters and Police Officers. For the past few years, Sophina has been a frequent visitor of the Sauk Rapids Fire Department and Police Department. In addition to bringing smiles to the faces of the Fire Fighters and Police Officers, Sophina delivers fresh baked cookies and writes the names of ALL Fire Department and Police Department personnel on her daily prayer list.  When Sophina hears a siren or sees a fire truck, she says a prayer.  Sophina doesn't just do these good deeds for the City of Sauk Rapids, she is also a familiar face to several local Police and Fire Departments. Sophina along with the Sauk Rapids Fire Department was featured on Kare 11's  "Land of 10,000 Stories" because of the impact that she is making in the lives of our local heroes.  Mayor Hunstiger noted that because of all of these reasons and more, Sophina has earned herself the City's Extra Mile Award.

The Extra Mile Award was created to recognize community members/students who are doing great things and making a difference in the City of Sauk Rapids.  If you know a resident who is deserving of the Extra Mile Award, please contact Mayor Hunstiger at khunstiger@ci.sauk-rapids.mn.us or Dana Furman at (320) 258-5303.  Recipients of the Extra Mile Award are recognized at a regularly scheduled City Council meeting by the Mayor and the rest of the members of the Sauk Rapids City Council.
