  • John Heintze-Mayor Hunstiger presented John Heintze with the City's Extra Mile Award. Heintze has been volunteering at Good Shepherd in Sauk Rapids for over 25 years.  Heintze was honored this year with two awards, the 2016 Aging Services District D Volunteer of the Year award and the Excellence in Volunteerism award from the Minnesota Association for Volunteer Administration (MAVA). Mayor Hunstiger noted that Heintze has volunteered over 631 hours at Good Shepherd.  Heintze's volunteer efforts extend beyond Good Shepherd as Heintze also volunteers for a variety of other community organizations. Mayor Hunstiger thanked Heintze for going the extra mile with his volunteer efforts in the community.
  • Sauk Rapids Fire Chief, Jason Fleming-Mayor Hunstiger presented Sauk Rapids Fire Chief, Jason Fleming, with the City's Extra Mile Award.  Fire Chief Fleming was named Sauk Rapids Fire Fighter of the Year. In 2016, Fleming made 93% of all fire calls. Mayor Hunstiger thanked Fleming for all that he does for the Sauk Rapids Fire Department and for the City of Sauk Rapids as a whole.   
  • Dennis Kenning- Former Mayor Dave Saunders presented Dennis Kenning with an Extra Mile Award.  Mayor Saunders noted that Kenning was nominated for this recognition by the Public Works Director, Pete Eckhoff.  Eckhoff nominated Kenning because of his dedication to the softball fields at Bob Cross Park.  Kenning schedules all of the softball games at Bob Cross Park, manages the concession stands and its employees, and he does all of the day-to-day maintenance on the fields to prepare the fields for league games in the evening.
  • Noah Simondet- Former Mayor Dave Saunders presented the Extra Mile Award to Noah Simondet who at the age of 14 obtained Eagle Rank in the Boy Scout Program.  Mayor Saunders noted all of Simondet's academic, extra curricular, sports, and civic achievements.  Mayor Saunders thanked Simondet for being such a fine example to the youth in the City of Sauk Rapids.
  • Duane Grandy-Former Mayor Dave Saunders presented the Extra Mile Award to Duane Grandy for his years of service and dedication to the City of Sauk Rapids as a Compost Site Attendant.    Mayor Saunders thanked Grandy for being a dependable and knowledgeable employee that both residents and staff could rely on.
  • Michole "Chole" Timm--Former Mayor Mark Campbell presented the Extra Mile Award to Chole Timm for her numerous athletic accomplishments.  Mayor Campbell thanked Chole for bringing pride to the Sauk Rapids-Rice School District and the City of Sauk Rapids through her many athletic and academic achievements.
  • Benjamin Simondet-- Former Mayor Mark Campbell presented the Extra Mile Award to Benjamin Simondet who at the age of 14 recently obtained Eagle Rank in the Boy Scout Program.  Mayor Campbell congratulated Simondet for his achievements and thanked him for the community service project that he did at Sacred Heart Church for his Eagle Scout project.
  • Jeremy Anderson-- Former Mayor Mark Campbell presented the Extra Mile Award to Jeremy Anderson who served in three military deployments.  With November being the month in which the nation officially honors veterans Mayor Campbell had Anderson assist him in flipping the holiday "switch" that lit up the holiday lights that adorned the City. 
  • "Grandma Marge" Johannes--Grandma Marge Johannes has been a volunteer at Pleasantview Elementary or within the Sauk Rapids-Rice school district since 1986. Mayor Campbell noted that Grandma Marge is a phenomenal woman who at 90 years of age still drives herself to Pleasantview Elementary every day for her 4 hours of volunteer work.
  • Ashley Bueckers-- Former Mayor Mark Campbell presented the Extra Mile Award to Ashley Bueckers for her willingness to go above and beyond for the residents of the City of Sauk Rapids. Bueckers planned and organized the first ever Parade of Lights and other holiday festivities for the City.
